Linda Cardellini was born Linda Edna Cardellini on the 25th of June 1975 in Redwood City, California. She is best known for her role in Freaks and Geeks, as Lindsay Weir; in Scooby-Doo, as Velma Dinkley; and, in ER, as Samantha Taggart.
Her first appearance on public was when she sang at the age of 10 in her school play. She enjoyed performing in front of an audience so much that she then participated in many school productions. Linda Cardellini also attended drama lessons to enhance her skills in acting. In 1993, she graduated from the St. Francis High School in Mountain View, California. In 2001, she earned her degree in theatre from the Loyola Marymount University’s College of Communication and Fine Arts.
In 1999, Linda Cardellini landed her first major break when she landed the starring role in the series Bone Chillers on ABC. She then appeared on several television shows and series including, 3rd Rock from the Sun, Step by Step, Boy Meets World and Clueless. That same year, she toured Europe for the production of Lancelot.
The following year, she landed one of the lead parts in the serried Freaks and Geeks, by NBC. In the series, Linda Cardellini played the role of Lindsay Weir, a confused honor student. The critics and the audience loved her performance which made her one of the rising stars in Hollywood.
In 2002, Linda Cardellini landed the role of Velma Dinkley in the film Scooby-Doo. The following year, she appeared as a regular cast in the hit series ER, playing the role of nurse, Samantha Taggart. In 2004, she reprised her role in its sequel, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.
Linda Cardellini was also seen in Dead Man on Campus, Brokeback Mountain, Grandma’s Boy, Bone Chillers, Guys Like Us, The Lot and Legally Blonde. She lent her voice in the video game, Gladius. In 2007, she was in the miniseries Comanche Moon, playing the role of Clara. Comanche Moon was a sequel to the hit Lonesome Dove in 1989.
Linda Cardellini used to date her co-star from Freaks and Geeks, Jason Segel, even after the show was cancelled. When not busy with acting, she attends martial arts lessons.
